2020 'Only in Dreams' Riesling Chardonnay
Inspired by Weezer "Only in Dreams"
Whilst a challenging year presented in 2020 the fruit was of great quality. The access to more fruit allowed us to follow our vision for what this wine was always designed to be. The Chardonnay portion was 100% barrel fermented, with the Riesling portion tank fermented then racked to 3+ year old French and Austrian oak, 100% wild yeast. With the fruit coming in at separate times from different GI’s we chose to ferment these in separate batches and blend just before bottling. We chose to follow on from last year and soaked the Riesling portion on skins for 3 days before sending off to barrel. The final wine was blended and sent off for bottling after 6 months in barrel.
TASTING NOTES
Bursting with aromatics of lime, rockmelon, nashi pear and peach skin with subtle hints of vanilla, rosewater and Turkish delight. A bright, fresh palate persists, with almond meal and citrus carried forward with a well-integrated, textural mouthfeel. A very drinkable wine.
